Week 6: Procurement Project

This past week we had a very exciting and big meeting with ND’s office of procurement. We learned crucial information about trucking, waste management, and sewer rates, as well as the fluidity of the waste management contract. The meeting also brought us to the conclusion that picking a distinct spot on ND’s campus is not necessary, but rather if we designed the system they would choose a spot given future architecture and landscaping plans.

As a team we continued to split up Monika’s hard research work by reaching out to the schools that she found with existing and successful compost systems. With the information gathered this week our team is getting closer and closer to our final design decision! We look forward to the waste n’ weigh that will be conducted at both North and South Dining Halls next week. So stay tuned to hear about our results... and potentially gross stories.
